“Mary is...the one who obtained mercy in a particular and exceptional way, as no other person has. At the same time, still in an exceptional way, she made possible with the sacrifice of her own heart her own sharing in the revealing of God’s mercy.”
St. John Paul the Great
† 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time
“For behold, some are last who will be first and some are first who will be last.” Luke 13:30
Our standards in our society are so different from God’s standards. We often rate or rank people by what they have, how powerful they are, or how successful they are. Jesus reminds us that God will not judge us by the same earthly standards.

Diocesan Summer Appeal:
St. Paul reminded us: Now, there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord, and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Cor. 12:4-7
Our parish has not yet made our goal for the Diocesan Annual Appeal. Currently we are $1,922 away from making our goal of $$12,211. At this time 34% of our parishioners are giving a gift of treasure to the Appeal. The Diocesan Summer Appeal is our opportunity to joyfully and gratefully hear the call and join the work of the common good! Please consider giving to the Diocesan Appeal and place your summer appeal envelope into the offertory basket or mail it in. (Envelopes can be found on the table in the church entrance.) Thank you.
† Altar Society Notes:
The Altar Society is looking for people willing to serve as officers this coming year.
We are in need of accurate phone numbers. If yours has changed, please let Donna know in the office (745-4511).
Thank you to those who have notified us of your new numbers!
Congratulations and welcome to the newest member of our parish, Arthur Ralph Sweeney, son of Paige and Victor Sweeney. Arthur received the Sacrament of Baptism on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
Blessings on this little child, sweet and fresh from Heaven above, May his days be filled with beauty, may he grow in truth and love. Lord, bless this tiny infant who will make the world so fair—
Keep this precious little life forever in your care.
We want to extend congratulations to Tyler and Laura Golden. They were united in marriage on July 2, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Lincoln, NE. We welcome you into our parish family at Sts. Peter and Paul.
