“Therefore, every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” Matthew 3:10
Do you bear good fruit for Christ? Or, do you spend your time, talent and treasure constantly acquiring more toys, clutter and junk. Our time, our talent and our treasure are gifts that God has given us. What we do with them is our gift back to God. What gifts are you planning to give to the Lord during this upcoming Christmas season?
† St. Mary’s Mission Appeal (SMMA) collection will take place November 27th. SMMA envelopes and prayer request cards will be distributed during Mass on the weekend of November 20. Every family is encouraged to take home an envelope and send a prayer request to Bishop Hoeppner, whether or not you are able to make a gift this year.
St. Mary’s Mission Parish and School are located on the Red Lake Reservation in Red Lake, MN. Please consider supporting St. Mary’s Mission in their work of spreading the wonderful news of the Gospel to their parishioners and children. You can view a short video about the mission at www.crookston.org/smma or swipe your smart phone over the QR code.
"Our parish is once again partnering with the Good Samaritan Home to bring some Christmas joy to residents in need. Ornaments on the tree contain wish lists from residents ($15-$20 gifts). If you would like to participate, please wrap your gifts and display the resident number on the package. Gifts may be brought to our parish office, and will be collected on Sunday, Dec 18th. For questions or more information, please contact JoAnne Ranstrom at 218-201-0756 or 745-4905 Thank you!"

† The Almighty appeared on earth as a helpless human baby, needing to be fed and changed and taught to talk like any other child. The more you think about it, the more staggering it gets. Nothing in fiction is so fantastic as this truth of the Incarnation. J.I. Packer
† Trying to find gifts for certain people — or letting others know what you want — can be quite challenging. After all, most of us don’t need anything.
Realizing that the best gifts aren’t material items offers a new perspective on giving and receiving. Consider these insights from author Charles Swindoll:
“Some gifts you can give this Christmas are beyond monetary value: Mend a quarrel, dismiss suspicion, tell someone ‘I love you.’ Give something away — anonymously. Forgive someone who has treated you wrong. Turn away wrath with a soft answer. Visit someone in a nursing home. Apologize if you were wrong. Be especially kind to someone with whom you work. Give as God gave to you in Christ, without obligation, or announcement, or reservation, or hypocrisy.”
